I would like to have either a copy of the photograph or the detail transcribed from it for the Society records as we don't seem to have much in the way of Irish records. If nothing else his date of birth or death and why he warranted a plaque.
Secondly you don't seem to have had a reply to the other question you raised about whether or not we have your family tree. The Society does have one if your wif'e's name is Linda.
Let's use these two points as a starter.
This picture can be found in our Gallery.
---Jerry Green Society Webmaster.
For more on the incident see this web site re Mull of Kintyre accident.
Thank you Jerry for the picture and link.
firstly sorry for the delay in my replyive been away
i can confirm my wifes name is Linda and i hope that i might be able to see my family tree
thank you for your help if you could send me an email address i will of course email you the picture i took in belfast
Webmaster Jerry Green sent me the copy of the plaque which I was able to "zoom in" on and read so that was fine.
I think at this point I would like you to conact our Record Keeper, Mary Rix, as she has the current records whereas mine are out of date being backups and that way she can show you the tree the Society has and talk to you about the detail. Her name link is on the page shown in the header above "About Us"
I see you have a query also about a Doris. Most people of her era would have been on the Electoral Registers and these are likely to be in the County Archive records. Possibly also in a Street Directory if she was a householder at any time. The County family history society may have produced indexes with her mentioned in them too.
in case the picture wasnt very clear its reads
in memory of Dennis Stanley bunting and his colleagues who died 2/june/1994 worthy of remembrance
i hope that helps and would be interested in any further details
Dennis was my dad. He died aged 39 on the 2nd June 1994 in Chinook crash on the mull of Kintyre. He is buried in the Church of Ireland, Hillsborough, N.Ireland. The plaque is on the long drive up to Stormont (Belfast).
He worked for Special Branch of the RUC (now PSNI). Special Branch deals with counter terrorism and intelligence.
